A Special Night

To remember

--

It was Christmas Eve.

Of course, the child couldn’t sleep,

tucked in bed at his Grandma’s house.

He arose and went to the window.

The sky was awash with a million stars.

Scanning the heavens, he could hardly believe his eyes.

A bright light was shining in the distance.

Brighter than any star.

Could it be?

It grew closer and closer.

He thought he saw red.

Yes, he was sure of it.

A red light was approaching the house.

His heart jumped with excitement.

He began to wave frantically.

Overwhelmed by emotion,

I opened the window on my red zeppelin and threw the boy some beef jerky.

I flew home hungry but smiling in my heart.

It was a special night.

Merry Christmas, everyone!
