Allowance is money a parent gives a child on a regular basis. Some parents attach conditions, like chores, to teach the value of money and working. Others give it without conditions.

Families who struggle financially may not give allowances at all.

Some well off parents don’t bother with allowance and just buy their children everything they want, and give them money whenever they ask. These children often struggle later in life with unrealistic expectations and selfishness.

Some kids save up their allowance and buy Frisbees. Then then throw them into the ocean. Learning a hard lesson about wasting their allowance.
