Anything that moves us away from the current ranting, self-promotional, political-soapboxing, opinion-bullying disaster that most social media has become is welcome by me.

But getting people to pay for something they have been getting for free for years will always be a challenge. Only the already famous with large followings make any significant money on Patreon or Substack (with a few exceptions.) Those platforms are not designed for discovery. They require continual promotion. I suspect the same will hold true for "Super Followers" or other subscription services. They will only benefit the already established and popular.

People are also becoming wary of subscription overload. Most of us can only afford to subscribe to so many subscriptions per month.

Still, I have been wrong plenty of times before. So I will be watching.
