June 20, 2017- Day 6

Our original plan for Day 6 was to do some hiking in Valles Caldera, a dormant super-volcano in the Jemez Mountains of northern New Mexico. We visited Valles Caldera on a previous trip to New Mexico, hoping to do some hiking, but we got rained out.

Our rained out trip to Valles Caldera in 2015.

We had a long seven-hour drive ahead of us to Sedona, Arizona, and we knew the hiking trip would delay that by a few hours. So we decided to skip the return to Valles Caldera and hit the road. And hopefully, spend a relaxing evening in Sedona.

Our longest road leg was our last. Los Alamos, New Mexico to Sedona, Arizona.

The road trip was fairly uneventful. We did pull onto Historic Route 66 to get some lunch. However, there wasn’t anything interesting to see.
