Everything I write starts in a Scrivener file. I have one for all my Medium stories organized by topic. One for Facebook (which I basically quit doing a few years ago.) One for my Substack newsletter. One for Twitter. And so on. It make is easier to find things. And I have copies of ALL my writings.

I don't know if my Medium index does any good, but I use it frequently to find old Medium stories. It is a minor hassle to keep it up to date, though.

I don't see Medium doing it. They are currently in love with a single-column blog format.
