Exactly. They expect too many thing to be free. It may have started with pirating music. I heard several younger people say at the time “all music should be free.” They strongly believe it. They had no concern for the artist. They thought somehow stealing their work was helping the artist gain popularity, which magically translated into money for the artist.” It is a bizarre thought process. But now there is no need to pirate with free streaming services like Spotify. Unlimited free music!

Then when phone apps publishers turned to making apps free with ads, the mindset was further reinforced. Apps should be free. Music should be free. Spotify is free. YouTube is free. Phone games are free. Everything should be free!

But I am sure the ones with jobs don’t work for free. And as you said, they are happy to buy expensive coffee while they sit in a coffee shop using the free internet. Expectations.
