Feeling like you have to write something every day is ridiculous nonsense, in my opinion (unless it is a paying job you depend on to pay bills.)
Especially on Medium (I am guessing you are not making a living on Medium, like 99% of us writing here.) Pushing yourself to write when your brain is screaming at you "I AM BURNED OUT!" is not healthy or effective (in my experience.)
I hit a creative wall in 2020. COVID and the possibility of four more years of Trump made me depressed. I didn't feel like writing and couldn't think of anything creative to write.
I have to be in a good mental state to be creative. So I avoided the news, social media, and all the negative stories on here that bring everyone down.
I backed way off posting on Medium. And started some different projects, like a newsletter featuring old Medium stories and a sequel to my first novel. And recently a serial story on Kindle Vella.
I just recently started feeling like I can actually write something creative consistently again. My creativity had to heal along with my outlook on life.
Take breaks. As many and as long as you need. That is "Doctor Mark's" worth-what-it-costs advice. 😉
