Ha, ha. I haven’t heard anyone say “eyeglasses” that I can remember. Just “glasses.” Maybe they did in the past or other parts of the U.S. Or maybe an optometrist. But we definitely say horseback riding (it’s pointless, where else would you ride? LOL) and sidewalk. Pavement is just a term for anything paved, like a road or parking lot (car park, for you.) “He fell on the pavement.” It is never plural.
