I am certainly no expert, but I have read many articles that say the primary people making money from self-publishing are the ones catering to self-publishers. The book cover designers, copy editors, Amazon.com, etc.

Well-known writers probably have good odds of success in self-publishing. Which is why I think having a following is important. But I think unknown authors are going to be disappointed by their results.

It is sad. And I hesitated to even publish this article because it is not very encouraging. But I don’t think ignoring a problem is helpful either.
