I am completely ignorant of the French language, outside of a couple of words. Two years ago, we took a weekend trip to Paris. And we took a bicycle trip through the grounds of Versailles. We stopped at a town square open market to buy food for a picnic lunch. You should have seen my wife and I trying to get the cheese we were buying sliced. The vendors spoke no English (imagine a French person not speaking English!) We finally gave up and bought a chunk of cheese. LOL! It was very good, though. And the picnic next the canals of Versailles was a memorable experince.
