I don’t think this is valid anymore as you can no longer see how many claps a story gets without partially scrolling down it. If you visit a publication you can see how many readers clapped for a story but not the number of claps without opening the story.

This may have worked in the old days, but not in the current feed. I honestly think its for the best. It make things less of a popularity contest.

But I still think giving 50 claps is a great idea for emotional support. I still like to get claps. Even if they don’t factor into money.

And claps are probably a more accurate gauge of enjoyment now since the reciprocal clapping clubs are no longer in business.
