I disconnected from TV news years ago. It made my life and mental health much better. You can’t miss anything really important. Someone will let you know. I do take occasional peeks at online news (written) but it is usually depressing and reminds me of why I quit watching the news. (As I write this on a news-oriented website. 😉)

I also take peeks at social media (a minute or two), but only to look for friends personal posts and photos. I ignore any political rants/arguments/speeches/opinions and fake news and conspiracy theories and all the other negative garbage. Which is equally depressing as the news. I post occasionally on Twitter to promote my writing or post some short humor or fiction. But I rarely read the negative posts or the political/cultural preaching.

If you can’t do anything about a problem why obsess about it? Do something good instead.
