I just remember that Medium is 50% social media and stats are simply an indicator of popularity. Not necessarily a good measure of quality. If you get curated by whatever unknowable method Medium uses to choose, your story gets more views so it is usually more popular.

Unless you write essays in the categories on the homepage, chasing curation is like buying lottery tickets. Most will be losers.
