I love time travel stories, movies, tv shows, etc. But as you mentioned they all have to create rules to keep the premise from falling apart or getting too hard to follow. But it usually does anyway with the tv shows. If there were no rules, people would simply keep going back further to fix what they messed up the last time. And there is no quicker way to make a mess of things than to have “alternate time lines.” LOL!
