I need a creative outlet. I know it. For most of my life it was primarily music. Playing guitar, specifically, but dabbling in keys and bass also. But along with music, I also developed other creative interests. Writing, photography, comics. Now I switch between them depending on what I feel inspired to do. I never completely abandon any of them. I actually can’t abandon music being in two bands and teaching guitar, but I will focus on one thing more intently for a time. Right now, it’s writing.

I agree, sometimes you have to force yourself to be creative (deadlines are good for this.) And often it works (not always.) It’s just a matter of getting started when you don’t feel like it. And letting creativity take over.
