I Punched Ambition In The Face
Blather on ambition and stupidity and irony
Ambition!
I will start with a short poem to prove I am not ambitious about financial success as a writer.
I punched ambition in the face
I had to get it off my case
I realized I wasn’t thriving
When my life was filled with constant striving
Endlessly chasing my latest desire
Was making all my joy expire
A goal is a good thing, many say
But at the expense of all else? No way!
Some people say ambition is good. Then again, some people say space aliens invaded their house and took all the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. And some people say jerberfooffluff. Why waste your time listening to some people? Listen to me instead. I rarely say jerberfooffluff. Although I am starting to enjoy it, so maybe you won’t want to listen to me in a few months.
Yes, ambition can lead to good things. But at what cost?
“All the greats were ambitious” is a popular refrain among those who like to use refrains instead of regular sentences or quotes.
