I am sure I am not the first person who got fed up with the corporate rat race and decided to re-invent themselves. But I can’t tell their story without doing a lot of research. And since that is not going to happen, let’s get back to me.

Earning six figures as a financial planner was a good gig, but having to wear a suit every day made it barely worth it. I am a jeans and t-shirt guy. Or, as Neil Diamond said so eloquently, “Forever in blue jeans.”

Actually, I am still a little mad at Neil for betraying his own lyrics and wearing fancy stage clothes. I learned a hard lesson that most songwriting is fiction. But I have forgiven Neil, considering his musical documentation of the great waves of US immigration. That lyrical tale of souls chasing their dream of freedom and coming to America. Today! Okay, maybe a century or so ago.

Plus, all anyone wanted to talk about was money. Investments, capital gains, trust funds, stocks, 401ks, portfolios, retirement, blah, blah, blah.

No one cared that I have been taking banjo lessons and can rip it up on Foggy Mountain Breakdown. It was all just, “How…
