I understand your concerns, Mary. And I respect your decision. The language is too vague. And several good writers have already left. But I believe if any of the things people fear happened, there would be a mass exodus from Medium. It doesn’t seem worth their while to do something unethical.
Of course, we all know, anything good posted online WILL get stolen eventually. I’ve seen it several times. That’s the nature of the internet. I choose to not worry about it and get on with life. I would rather spend my time writing than worrying.
Medium is where my audience is. Where my stories get interaction. Where my Medium friends are. The good things far outweigh the extremely small possibility (in my opinion) of Medium using my stories for anything other than Medium. So I am staying. I recently wrote a story detailing my reasons:
