I welcome the purge. I know 80% (probably more) of my followers have never read one of my stories (based on applause and responses.) They were just hoping for a follow-back (they didn't get.) Or now they are bots. Why?

Followers is currently a pointless number.

I guess it makes some writers feel good to have thousands of followers who don't read their stories. Bragging rights, maybe? Or perhaps they are hoping to trick pubishers into thinking they are popular. It just discourages me.

Ah, Medium. Ah, hackers. Ah, social media. Ah, self-promotion. Ah, writing. Ah, people.

I guess I'll go eat lunch.
