It’s no mystery why the stories featured on Medium are geared toward young people. In their latest diversity report, Medium stated, “Most of our employees are between 26–30 years old,…” It sounds like they could use some more “experienced” viewpoints on the payroll.

But another issue is recognizing older voices on Medium. I know some older writers who use some sort of pet/animal, cartoon, nature scene, or other images on their profile that don’t reveal their age. I thought one of the writers I follow was in her 20s for several months until she revealed that she was in her 50s in a response.

Of course, I have a similar problem, since I look at least 20 years younger than I really am. It is a curse I bear as best I can. LOL!
