Jack, I don’t know if I had an “out of body” experience or I was just delirious, but I once suffered an 8 hour (NyQuil induced?) “experience” at the end of spending 32 hours in bed with the flu. I actually wrote down what I could remember once I got out of bed.
Every few minutes or seconds, it was hard to tell, they seemed endless, I saw a new image or thought or dream in my mind. Numbers, rows of things, myself sleeping, random stuff, etc. And every time I saw a new image I was compelled to roll over. From my side to my back to my other side, etc. I had no control over my body. My body controlled me. If I tried to move my body myself, I couldn’t. And every time I looked at the clock it was an hour later.
After eight hours of that I remember thinking “I need to get control of my mind and focus on something.” So I started counting. By the time I got to 120 the random thoughts went away and I was able to go to sleep. Four hours later, I got a call from my wife and returned to the land of the living.
Whatever it was, it was unlike any dream or experience I had ever had before.
