Mr. 2k Is In The Building!
That’s me! Bust out the envy!
I hit two thousand “fans” today
That might make most people say, “Hurray!”
But I know that many were just making a play
To get me to follow them back
But I don’t play follow for follow
A practice that I find quite hollow
I’d rather have a stale marshmallow
Then a follow from that silly hack
I know who actually read my stories
At least the ones who clap
They’re nowhere near two thousand strong
My Stats attest to that
But I sure am glad to see their names
The ones who read instead of playing games
It’s genuine readers that I recommend
I appreciate them all, my Medium friends
They are the ones who fill my heart
More than any number on a chart
I may sound like a real humbugger
But I’ll take real readers over any number
Still, I will celebrate this new milestone
Perhaps humble brag about it on my phone
People will think I am well-known
Until they learn the truth and my cover’s blown
