Readers are better than rejection letters! I publish on Medium for one primary reason. People read and respond to my stories. Not a lot. Only about 15–20% of my “followers” actually read my stories (based on the people who clap.) But small active audience is a good thing. Far better than no audience.

Obviously, my writing is never going to appear in a literary journal. It isn’t a goal for me either. But it is fun to have people read and respond (responses are better than claps to me) to my writing. And getting paid a little on top of that is extra tasty icing on the cake.
