Dawn loved comedy. As a girl, she watched every comedian show, video, and movie she could find. Dawn memorized the jokes and bits of several comedians. When she graduated high school, she decided she would become a stand-up comedian.
The only problem was, she wasn’t that funny. She bombed time after time.
There was one young man who came to nearly every show. He didn’t laugh at most of her jokes, but he smiled the whole time.
After one show, Dawn decided to talk to him.
“I have seen you at a lot of shows. You don’t laugh much. But then, neither do most of the people in the audience. Why do you keep coming?” Dawn asked.
“Honestly, I don’t know. I keep thinking you might get better. But it doesn’t really matter now. I guess I am a fan.”
Dawn looked at him for a moment.
“Well, a fan is a fan. Can I buy you a drink?”
“Sure.”
Thus began the romance of Dawn and Tony. Dawn’s routine never did get much better. But Tony and Dawn’s love grew, and a year later, they married. Two years after that, they had a baby boy. They named him Jerry after Dawn’s favorite comedian, Jerry Seinfeld.
