The Great Interruption

Renaming the quarantine

I have grown sick of saying Covid-19
The scientific name has lost its sheen

Coronavirus is not much better
I would rather say Irish Setter
Or even get a worthless chain letter

Quarantine and Lockdown have been so overdone
Why not something more homespun?

I think we need a new label for this continual life disruption
Therefore I have named it The Great Interruption

Some say normal will never return
That the world is heading for a certain downturn

Doom and gloom is their stock-in-trade
Listen until your nerves are frayed

Of course, there is the inevitable political corruption
By those who would politicize a volcanic eruption

And the medias who speaks only hyperbole
Feeding outrage and fear until it’s out of control

But normal is as normal does
The bees still sting and give a buzz
