I think many creatives have discovered that they need some sort of “day job” or suplemental income to finance their creativity. It is hard to survive on income from creativity alone.
The Problem with something like Patreon, is it also requires a lot of promotion to work (creator: “Please support me on Patreon.” Most people: “What is Patreon?”) And you have to create additional “rewards” to give your “patrons” for becoming your patrons. And you have to do a lot of set-up work on Patreon before you can even get a patron. And of course, there is no gaurantee you will get any patrons. That is a lot of work. If you have a big following already, it may be worth the effort, but otherwise I doubt it will be very successful or worth the time and effort.
