There is so much tragedy in the world. And those of us with comfortable lives can easily ignore it for the most part. On the other hand, to continually dwell on tragedy and problems is to invite depression, anger, and hopelessness into our heart. But for those living tragic lives, there is no ignoring it. And hope is a rare commodity.

Politicians tend to view these things as categorized problems to be solved. “We must fix drug addiction and poverty!” When the truth is, these are individual problems that must be addressed one individual at a time. There is no quick fix. God bless those who truly dedicate themselves to the overwhelming and often thankless task.
