This is true for me no matter where I write. I haven't considered News Break because I have no desire to write local news for money (unless we are talking 50k per year.) I write to be creative. Writing news would feel like a job (no offense to those who it is their job.)

I have come to view my writing as a hobby (not a side gig), so I don't have to justify it by earning money. Which is a good thing considering my $1 per day Medium income. LOL!
