Trolls seem to be pretty rare on Medium. Although I have read a couple of obviously hateful comments on other writer’s stories that appeared designed only to hurt the writer (both from the same writer.) Civilized debate is one thing, but personal attacks are another. No one should have to suffer or tolerate abusive behavior. Verbal, written, or physical.

Engaging trolls is like feeding them. It is what they desire. Better to ignore them and starve them of attention. So I personally think it is a good thing to have the option to hide their hate-filled comments or block them if necessary.
