Try Affinity Designer, it is similar to Adobe Illustrator. I could never force myself to like Illustrator, but I love Designer for making my comics. I have been using it for about six years.

I also use Affinity Photo (like Photoshop) and Affinity Publisher (like InDesign.)

In my opinion, the Affinity apps are easier to use and just as (or more) powerful than Adobe apps. Although I don't push them that hard. But others do. There are tons of video tutorials on the website, which make good demos also.

And they all work together seamlessly. The developer (Serif) is very responsive and they are continually improving the apps.

They are very reasonably priced. And no subscription!
