Musicians often change the lyrics of their songs while they are writing them. When writing The Beatles classic Yesterday, Paul McCartney initially came up with the phrase “Scrabbled Eggs” instead of “Yesterday.” I have a feeling Scrabbled Eggs might not have been as big of a hit.
I recently heard an early demo of a Simon & Garfunkel song.
The working title was Like A Zip Line Over Troubled Water.
I think it was probably a good decision to change the lyrics.
