We creative types are going to do what we love to do, audience or not. But it sure is nice to have someone appreciate your efforts. Even a small group. Even one. To me, having someone appreciate my creativity (an audience- friends, family, strangers) is equally important as the act of creating. I also play guitar and I enjoy playing at home, but nothing matches the experience of playing for others who enjoy the performance. An audience makes the years of practice and effort of creation worthwhile to me. Both the performer (writer) and the audience need each other, and both benefit from that relationship. It seems the natural way of things. I doubt I would keep posting on Medium if absouletly no one read my writing. I have never journaled or kept a diary. For me it has to be a two way street.

Thanks for sharing your perpesctive, Marliese.
