Well-thought out article, Alec. To me, social media has always been entertainment. And there was a time (mid-2000s) when it was entertaining and fun. When people interacted. But soon it became about self-promotion, and building brands, and becoming an “influencer” (salesperson.) Then came politcal propaganda and ranting and ads. And sharing everything on the internet. It became a swamp of sewage to wade through looking for the occassional gem. I don’t know if there is any going back.

Hopefully more young people will see it for what it is and make it better or abandon it.
