What I don't like about "read my story" tagging on Medium is it shows up in my notifications as "Writer Name mentioned you in a story." I think: Oh yeah! Someone liked my story or writing enough to mention me! Then I go there and find out I am just one of the multitude of links at the bottom of their story. Bummer. I feel disappointed, like a victim of bait and switch.

I understand the desire to have people read your stories, but I don't think this practice will endear anyone to their readers. And may even turn people off. Unless they specifically ask you to tag them in their stories.

And I am not sure it should be called Reciprocity Tagging since you are not exchanging anything; you are just tagging people to get them to read your story. It's very one-sided. Mass Tagging or Promotional Tagging are better terms, in my opinion.

It's a matter of opinion, obviously, but I don't care for it.

Still love you, Brother. 🙂
