When my first grandson was born, I told my daughter I wanted to be called “Grandpa” or “Grampa.” Not Poppy or Pop Pop or Popeye or Gramppy, just good old Grandpa. Well when my grandson got old enough to talk he started calling me “Boohka.” I have no idea where that came from. But I grew to like it. As he got older he started calling me Grandpa. I guess, Boohka is a little weird for a 12 years old to call me.

My next two grandsons didn’t make up their own name for me. They call me Grandpa. But the latest one is only 6 months old so who knows…

[I had three girls and so far they have had all boys.]
