I quit using Twitter about a year ago. Not that I ever used it much. I only posted occasional funny stuff. And I followed Tom Hanks and Steve Martin because they posted funny stuff.
But I eventually decided I had too much social media in my life. So it was easy to let go of Twitter. Almost. There was one thing that made me think twice.
One day I went on Twitter and discovered that the guy from Cash Cab had followed me. The guy from Cash Cab! Dude! I made it to the big time!
It was almost worth keeping my account just to able to say, “The guy from Cash Cab follows me on Twitter.”
But semi-fame by association simply wasn’t enough. I closed my account.
Who knows, maybe someday I will take a cab in New York and the guy from Cash Cab will be driving and he will say, “Why did you get off Twitter? You made me laugh.”
That would be funny. And a little weird. And awesome.
Apologies to Ben Bailey (Cash Cab guy.)
