Yes, back then, claps determined the Partner Program pay. The money came from readers monthly fees, so if you read and clapped a lot, your claps were basically worthless (less than a penny each.) But many didn't understand that. Actually, a 1 clap was the most valuable clap at the time. It was counter-intuitive.

Now applause is pure "feel-good" applause. I like it better that way. Many writers say clapping is worthless now. But I disagree. Just like a band appreciates applause, I also write for applause and responses. Sure not for the money. LOL!
