Yes. I don’t see anyone too worried about getting sent to detention for doing it. And I doubt very many have actually read the Medium writer guidelines. But they do read the articles that tell them to always put a CTA at the end of their posts. Sometimes the CTA, and requests for coffee money, and links to their Patreon account, and their blog, and their social media accounts, and the sign-up forms,

and the begging for claps in giant bold type,

etc., are longer than the actual story. I usually avoid those writers.
