Yes. “Write for yourself” is tossed out as cliché good advice far too often. There is some truth to it. But anyone doing creative work wants other people to see/hear it, if they are being honest. If not, why post it? There has to be some thought of others reading your work or you probably will be the only one reading it.

“Write for yourself” is fine for a grocery list or diary, but if you write for an audience you need to consider them in the equation also. At least a little.
