Like most children, Bethany was excited about Christmas. She started counting down the days until Christmas on December 1st. Finally, Christmas morning came and Bethany ran downstairs to see what was under the tree. She checked all the presents, but there were none from Santa.
“Why aren’t there any presents from Santa?” Bethany asked her parents.
“We didn’t think you believed in Santa anymore, Sweetie. Trevor said he told you Santa wasn’t real,” Bethany’s mother replied.
“Trevor ruins everything,” Bethany said and ran to her room.
After a good bout of crying, Bethany got out a piece of notebook paper and wrote a letter to Santa. Then she got an envelope and stamp and put the letter in the mailbox.
When she came back inside, her father said, “I am sorry, Bethany. But look, you got an extra present from Mommy and me. That series of books you’ve been wanting.”
“Thank you, Daddy,” Bethany said, trying to smile.
“Come on, we have more presents to open,” her dad said.
A week later, there was a knock on Bethany’s door. Bethany opened the door and saw a short man in a suit.
